ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico United has just released a resource guide on how to support the Black community in the state.

The team says the Black Lives Matter movement has sparked questions about how to get involved locally, so they worked with community partners and fans to put together a digital toolkit.

The toolkit features 85 Black-owned businesses from across New Mexico, as well as dozens of Black artists, funds, and scholarships to donate to. The team is encouraging the public to help add suggestions to the toolkit as well.

"As a result of the injustices of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others in the past, many of us are left feeling saddened, angry, and scared, myself included," New Mexico United player Austin Yearwood said.

He encourages the community to take action, however they can.

"The initial response is important," Yearwood said. "But the follow through sparks change. Whatever you do, don't let it end after a couple of weeks."
