Man charged with vehicular homicide after running over his girlfriend

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Albuquerque Police was called out to 12720 Dunes Road southeast in reference to a domestic dispute Friday.

When officers arrived they discovered a deceased subject who was later identified as Brandi Garcia.

Through their investigation, officers learned that 29-year-old Robert Mentz was arguing with his girlfriend, Garcia. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation that also involved Garcia's father.

Mentz drove his vehicle recklessly during the confrontation, which resulted in Garcia falling from the side of the vehicle and dying from her injuries.

Mentz was taken into custody and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Saturday.
