Parents notified of sexual assault allegations at Valley High School

October 08, 2018 05:40 PM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Albuquerque Public Schools Police Department is investigating allegations of sexual assault between two students at Valley High School.

The school sent a letter to parents Friday.

“Stuff like that shouldn't be going on. A teacher should be watching what's going on inside the classrooms,” said Joe Alvarado, whose three granddaughters attend the school.

The letter says, "Law enforcement has not provided any information that leads the school to believe there is a safety threat."

It’s not clear if anyone has been suspended or charged with a crime

Shortly after informing teachers and families of the investigation, a memo went out from officials saying they "need to stress to everyone how important it is for students to be supervised at all times."

District officials would not comment on the investigation.
