ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The high winds are causing power outages across the metro. According to PNM, there were over 15,000 people without power Wednesday morning.

As of 11 a.m., there are still over 12,000 customers without power.

Crews worked throughout the night, but replacing downed power lines and poles takes time to do safely. In some cases, entire poles snapped or lifted from their foundation, according to PNM spokesperson Meaghan Cavanaugh.

Winds in Albuquerque peaked at over 70 mph at the Sunport Tuesday evening.
