Rio Rancho police investigate Christmas shooting as murder-suicide

RIO RANCHO, N.M. - Rio Rancho Police responded to a shooting in the Northern Meadows neighborhood on Christmas Day around 4:15 p.m.

Rio Rancho police Capt. Andrew Rodriguez said officers responded to a home on Martin Meadows Drive to perform a welfare check but discovered four deceased victims inside. All appeared to have gunshot wounds.

The victims, all family members, have been identified as Carlos Velasquez, 50, Marilyn Velasquez, 45, Roberto Velasquez, 22, and Adrian Velasquez, 14.

RRPD is investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
