Jesse Hopkins and Teresa Lopez say they saw a distraught woman covering a man with gunshot wounds.

"We were scared to death," Hopkins said. "We were minutes away from the whole thing. She was bent over on top of him in the fetal position."

Police closed off the intersection while they gathered information about what led up to the gunfight. Detectives interviewed several people involved and sealed two of the vehicles pending a search warrant.

"We're trying to find out what the relationship was between everybody," APD Spokesperson Simon Drobik said, adding that three total vehicles were involved. Two guns were also recovered at the scene.

Police say the woman is expected to make a full recovery.
