ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — APD officers said they negotiated the peaceful surrender of the suspect involved in an active shooter situation.
Officers said they were called out to Union 505 Apartments near 801 Locust northeast Saturday morning in response to shots being fired.
An APD spokesperson said the suspect, Roy Thundercould, was using a high-powered rifle. Four people were shot at, but no injuries were reported.
Portions of the interstate were closed due to the situation but have since reopened.
Residents who live in the complex said this isn't the first time crime has been an issue.
"Management doesn't do much of anything. As far as security goes, they did at one point in time, now they don't. You only see someone running around checking tags at two in the morning but that's it," said one resident.
KOB 4 tried to reach out to the company that manages the Union 505 Apartments, but they did not respond for comment.
