Police: Suspect arrested following attempted robbery at ABQ Whataburger

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Police have arrested a suspect following an attempted robbery and ensuing SWAT situation at an Albuquerque Whataburger.

The area of 2nd Street and Menaul was blocked off for several hours as officers worked to take the suspect, who was baricaded inside the restaurant, into custody.

According to police, the suspect used a knife to slash a person in the neck. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It is not known whether the victim was a Whataburger employee.

Witnesses described the suspect as a homeless man who stays in the area. His name has not been released.
