ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After a power outage was reported around 3:30 am at the Albuquerque Sunport, PNM crews were able to restore the electricity about five hours later.

The power failure was caused by an underground line that was faulty, according to PNM.

"There are backup generators. Unfortunately, those had issues as well. So it was an unfortunate situation where we took a little bit of time to get back up and going," said Jonathan Small, marketing manager for the Sunport.

Small said a little over 30 flights were affected. Some flights were delayed while others were canceled.

Some of the travelers waiting in line to get through the TSA checkpoints weren't too upset. But while the power was out, some flyers were using social media to voice their concerns.

Small said Sunport was also using social media to update travelers on the issue and progress.

Flyers need to contact their airlines to ask about flight changes and reimbursements.

Small said they are looking for a plan to prevent situations like this one.
