ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A property management company in Albuquerque is making an effort to help those who have had financial problems and those who have been previously incarcerated get housing.

Thunderbird Property Management and Realty Company flipped the old Pioneer Motel on Central into apartments that are meant for people who need a second chance.

The units come equipped with new flooring, kitchenettes, and a new roof.

Property Manager Andrea Alderete said they take anyone on a case by case basis, no matter your financial or criminal history.

She said her risk has paid off so far, and people who do come live at the Pioneer have to be on the straight and narrow path.

“We're just out to help people that are wanting more for themselves and are really willing to work hard and just need a chance,” Alderete said.
