ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Several protesters showed up to the Embassy Suites Hotel parking lot in northeast Albuquerque Sunday night where some visitors were staying for an NRA-sponsored police marksmanship contest.

They weren't empty-handed; the protesters carried tombstones with the names of victims of police shootings.

"It's just evidence of how brutal our police force is," said Citlali Tierney, one of the demonstrators. "We are here protesting because the police training for Albuquerque and the police across the nation has to be changed."

Mayor Tim Keller announced last week the city's decision that it will no longer continue to host the contest, citing a low return on investment.
