ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- A person was killed when a Rail Runner train struck a vehicle on Candelaria near 2nd Street Wednesday.
Rail Runner spokesperson Augusta Meyers said the car was stopped on the tracks when the train collided with it. She confirmed that only one person was in the car.
The 91 people who were on the Rail Runner at the time of the crash waited on the train for over two hours until the train could depart to the downtown Albuquerque station.
APD said the car did not stop for the railroad crossing arm. The car went under the arm and was struck by the Rail Runner train going southbound.
No information has been released about the person killed.
Trains #515 SB and #516 NB were delayed Wednesday night because of the crash.
Train services will resume as normal July 4.
