Repeat offender arrested after allegedly holding woman hostage

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- An Albuquerque man with a violent criminal history has been arrested again.

Police said Daniel Gutierrez tried to break into a man’s apartment, near San Mateo and Gibson early Monday morning.

When he couldn’t get in, a witness said Gutierrez tried to break into another apartment.

He managed to get in and hold a woman hostage before she got away.

Two people at the apartment complex were able to hold Gutierrez until police arrived.

He was arrested and charged with kidnapping, aggravated burglary, breaking and entering, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

He is being held in jail as his case moves to District Court.
