RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Rio Rancho police have confirmed they found a teenage boy dead from multiple gunshot wounds in the Enchanted Hills area, off of Newfoundland.

Police said the victim was found in the driver's seat of a car. First responders and people in the neighborhood tried to save him, but he died at the scene.

"He's approximately 17 or 18 years old, I don't know any other circumstances beyond that as far as what the motive is or if we have suspects identified," said Capt. Andrew Rodriguez with RRPD.

According to police, this is the second homicide in Rio Rancho this year.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting should call RRPD at (505) 891-7226.
