While sleeping in was an option, some children didn’t miss their opportunity to attend KOB 4 Kids’ Day at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta with their parents.

While the kids walked around Balloon Fiesta Park before dawn, bags were being handed to them.

“I love pinwheels,” said one girl as she went through her bag. “And there’s some milk and snack.”

Inside every bag was a carton of milk, cereal and other goodies that were given away for free.

Having to get up earlier than usual was worth it for the families who attended.

“I forgot breakfast for them, and so they have breakfast. I forgot a bag to bring stuff, so this will be great because I was wishing I had a bag," Stephanie Smith said.

The kids also got to take pictures will a rabbit character and eat their snacks as they waited for the special shapes hot air balloons to float into the sky.
