APD: SWAT situation ends with shooting suspect in custody

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - APD's SWAT was activated early Friday morning after a shooting suspect refused to come out of a home in southeast Albuquerque.

According to police, officers were called to reports of a shooting early Friday morning.  When they arrived on scene they located a victim who had been shot. That person is expected to survive and identified the man who shot him as Benjamin Marquez.

Marquez eventually was arrested. 

According to an arrest warrant, the victim told police he was shot by Marquez after the two were "consuming narcotics" together. The victim told officers Marquez became paranoid and angry and then shot the victim in the hands.

Marquez took off, but police were able to track him to a home on Dallas Street, near Zuni and Pennsylvania. He refused to come out and SWAT was activated.

According to the arrest warrant, officers were able to speak with Marquez, who acknowledged that he shot someone for "various reasons."
