ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The snowman made of tumbleweeds returned to Albuquerque on Tuesday.

"Tumbleweed Tuesday-- it's really the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season in Albuquerque every year," said Nolan Bennett, field manager with Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority, which is responsible for building the snowman.

The snowman has been a staple in Albuquerque since 1995.

This year, the 11-foot snowman is a little bit slimmer.

"We collect the tumbleweeds every year," Bennett said. "This year, he's been on a diet. Last year he was a little pudgy, and this year the tumbleweeds just didn't grow as large so it took us a little time to find them."

Drivers will be notice the snowman on I-40 near the University exit.
