ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Albuquerque's city council made a move to start designing the other half of our Sunport.

After the work in the baggage claim area is complete, a similar project will begin.

"That entire project basically needs to be done on the other side of the airport too. Lots of things like vents air conditioning, lots of things above the ceiling," said Nyika Allen, Albuquerque director of aviation.

She says the latest project is the next step in bringing the Sunport up to the times.

"We're really trying to make it efficient to today's standards,” she said. “There was some things that were just not done as well as they could've been, so we need to make sure those are done."

SMPC Architects will be producing the designs for the project. The firm said it's too early to know how much the project will cost.
