Suspected thief steals $60K in tools, deputies say

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Power tools, generators and other hardware can really add up. Investigators say an Albuquerque man decided he didn't want to pay for them, and they arrested as a result.

Bernalillo County deputies say they caught Carlos Chavez breaking into a hardware store Sunday night. Police say he stole the tools and other items from a storage unit he'd also allegedly broken into.

In all, the stolen goods added up to more than $60,000.
