ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Police say a man tried to steal from the Home Depot on Coors Boulevard by switching barcodes.

Robert Lovelace was arrested on Sunday after security reportedly caught him switching barcodes from cheap items onto expensive items.

Lovelace wasn't the name he initially went by. When police arrested him, they say he tried going by a different name that didn't match any records.

Police say Lovelace admitted to lying because he was just released from jail and didn't want to get in trouble again. According to court documents, he was initially arrested last month after stealing a television from a hotel.
