RIO RANCHO, N.M. – Disturbing new video is showing a teenager abusing a cat in various ways, including putting it in a fridge, and he could soon face charges.

The teen can be seen putting the cat's face in his mouth before putting him in the fridge and saying, "We're eating cat for dinner tonight."

He can later be seen grabbing what looks like a pizza cutter and holding it against the cat's throat.

"I was furious, absolutely furious," said Destiny Sevier, who found the video and brought it to the attention of the online community. "I reached out to a few friends of mine who do work for the police department and I went ahead and called dispatch."

Rio Rancho Police say they've checked on the cat, which is OK. Officers are investigating the video, and the person in it has been identified.

Depending on what police discover, the teen could face animal abuse charges as a juvenile.

Sevier said she offered to take custody of the cat, but authorities declined, ensuring her it was safe and would be monitored closely.
