ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – It’s been nearly 6-years since Nehemiah Griego admitted to killing his three young siblings and his parents. He was 15-years-old at the time.
KOB’s Brittany Costello attended a portion of Griego’s amenability hearing on Wednesday.
Griego’s half-sister, who currently lives in California, took the stand, recounting what it was like growing up with Griego.
She described to the court a normal home life while she lived with the Griego family.
Griego’s half-sister refuted allegations of abuse in the home and refuted claims that Griego was forced to guard the house with a gun.
She broke down on the stand when asked how these murders impacted her life.
“There are so many memories and experiences my family, my children, my husband will never have. With my father, with Sara, Zephaniah, Jaleel and Angelina because Nehemiah decided to make that decision that night. It's made me fearful for my children. Like I don't even want him to know how old they are, I don't want him to have their names because I am afraid or retaliation,” she said.
She went on to say that she believes her brother is still a threat to her and her family.
“I am afraid he will harm them. I don't have any social media accounts. I do my best to live under the radar. Try and live a quiet life because I believe my brother still poses a threat to our families and our life,” she said.
