ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – An employee working at a busy breakfast spot says she feels violated after someone stole her belongings.

The victim, Kateri Tenorio, said she put her purse in the same place every day for almost a year while working at La Waffleria in Nob Hill. Everything was stolen Tuesday morning, including her purse and the car she uses to take her children to school.

"It's a very traumatizing experience. Defining violating," she said. "You know all I could think about my kids, my identity, all my personal, everything personal to me was in my purse and in my car."

On surveillance video, a man is seen walking into La Waffleria. Moments later, he's around the employee only area and takes a purse off the wall.

"He had no business back there, and you know from the other video I feel like he knew what he was doing," Tenorio said. "And he was scoping out for quite a while because I even encountered him a few times in the hallway.

"I went through the whole restaurant. I went to the restrooms. I even went outside at a certain point and I looked in the garbage. I noticed that a different car was parked in my parking spot where I had parked this morning and that's when I realized that it was. My purse was gone and my car was gone."

Tenorio, a single mother of four, said she just got that car a year ago after saving up. She needs it to take her kids to school and drive to her other job.

"I thought I was going to faint. Everything around me just got dark and I just felt lost," Tenorio said.

Tenoria said police have found her car and it's in a tow yard. She said so far, it doesn't seem like there's been any damage. There is no word yet on her purse.

Now the eatery is asking people to look for the person they believe is responsible.
