ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The UNM football team will play Saturday's game without their star linebacker Evah Tohi and another player.

KOB has confirmed that Tohi has been suspended from all team activities because of an incident involving him and the other player.

Numerous sources tell KOB that Tohi beat up a teammate so badly, he was taken to the hospital.

KOB has a name for that player and checked in with UNM Hospital to see if he’s still there, however, officials would not confirm or deny that he’s a patient. But sources tell KOB that he plays defense, alongside Tohi.

After pressing UNM athletics officials, UNM Head Football Coach Bob Davie sent KOB the following statement:

“I was made aware of an incident that happened Saturday night involving two of our student-athletes.  Although all the details are still being gathered, I think it’s appropriate at this time to suspend Evah Tohi from all team activities.  The University will continue to work through proper procedures and once the process is completed, appropriate action will be taken.”

KOB's sources did not know what led to the fight or where it happened.

However, those sources tell KOB that Tohi visited his teammate in the hospital after realizing the severity of his injuries.
