Valencia County deputy charged with DWI, battery, child abuse

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Valencia County Sheriff's deputy Charles Contreras was arrested for DWI, battery of a household member and child over the weekend.

Details about the incident have not been released.

Contreras, 25, was booked into the Metro Detention Center Saturday and released Sunday.

James Harris, Valencia County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said Contreras has been placed on administrative leave, pending an internal investigation.
