ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- New Mexico has been ranked near the bottom in education once again.

The website 24/7 Wall Street says the state's public schools are the second worst in the country. It says the state faces some unique challenges.

It notes around 20 percent of New Mexican students have parents who aren't fluent in English. That often makes it difficult to succeed in school.

The site says around 45 percent of New Mexican students don't have least one parent who graduated from college. Studies find students raised by at least one college graduate tend to do better in school.
