ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - HaveIBeenPwned.com is a website that can tell users whether hackers have hijacked the user’s emails or passwords.

It contains a database of hacked accounts, websites and passwords.

KOB spoke with software engineer Adam Morton about the best digital security practices.

“Randomization is the best way to go,” software engineer Adam Morton said.

Morton also says it’s dangerous to save your passwords in your notes.

“That’s like leaving your keys on the doorstep,” Morton said. “A lot of people can’t remember random strings of passwords so the best thing to do is use a reputable manager to generate and store them.”

One way to generate a secure, unique password is using a password manager such as 1Password.

For passwords, it’s better not to use dictionary words, personal details like your birthday or your name.
