Sheriron Jones, Brandt Hughes, and Trae Hall are taking the majority of snaps in practice.

“Tevaka is a great player and when he's gone, we got to step it up,” Hughes said. “The competition out here has been high.”

All three players are trying their best to compete with Tuioti out again.

“We reach out to Tevaka,” Jones said. “He's going through some family things right now so we stay prayed up for him and hope that he comes back joyful and happy.”

The Lobos play their season open on Aug. 31.

Kickoff against Sam Houston State is set for 4 p.m. at Dreamstyle Stadium.
