ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It's been nearly a month since New Mexico State played a basketball game.
That drought ended on the west coast when the Aggies went head-to-head with Cal State Northridge Monday.
Oñate grad Johnny McCants knocked down five 3-pointers and had a team high on 19 points.
The Aggies led by 8 points in the second half, but the Matadors rallied back.
Former Lobo Vante Hendrix scored 11 points in his Northridge debut.
The Matadors upset the Aggies, 66-63.
This is NMSU's first loss of the season.
"Didn't get the job done at the end—I certainly didn't. I didn't help them enough. We didn't make smart basketball plays, and we didn't make shots," said NMSU head coach Chris Jans.
