The announcement came after the Colts’ preseason loss against the Bears Saturday— a game in which he did not play.

Luck has battled number of injuries in recent years with his most recent being his calf and ankle.

Luck said he is tired of the cycle of recovery but ultimately thinks it is the right choice to walk away from the NFL.

“This is the hardest decision of my life but it is the right decision for me,” Luck said.
