ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Albuquerque to watch the New Mexico United play their U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal match.

The team started off strong, scoring first.

However, Minnesota United FC had a reply. The team scored five unanswered goals in the first half.

"The fact that there's this many people out here on a week night supporting the team is really great," said Lucinda Montoya, a loyal New Mexico United fan. "I know the guys aren't doing as well as we'd like them to, but I know all of us fans are going to support them, winning or losing."

Minnesota added another goal in the second half for the 6-1 victory.

This was United’s third straight game, in the tournament, against an MLS team.

They beat the Colorado Rapids and Dallas FC Dallas.
