Lobo cross-country runner earns second National Athlete of the Week honor

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Lobo cross-country runner Weini Kelati earned her second National Athlete of the Week Honor after breaking a Mountain West record.

During the 6K championship race, Kelati won by 49 seconds and broke the record by 26 seconds.

The award was presented by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Kelati was given the same honor following a win at the Notre Dame Invitational Oct. 7.

The Lobos will resume postseason competition Nov. 15 in Salt Lake City, Utah for the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships Nov. 23.
