ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — UNM football has 26 more days until the season kicks off.
At wide receiver, there were a lot of missed opportunities a year ago.
Now, when the Lobos line up at receiver, they've got play makers across the board.
"Look fresh, different because there is more talent," said Anselem Umeh. "I think we literally have every receiver that can do everything from running routes to catching balls – to just being polished.
"As far as depth and overall talent-level, wide receiver corps is right at the top of the list for us," said head coach Bob Davie.
Anselem Umeh, Jay Griffin, and Elijah Lilly were second, third and fourth in receiving stats for the Lobos last year.
With that experience, everyone's pushing each other to be great and give the offense a bigger spark.
"We are all focused in on winning," Griffin said. "We all want to help each other. We all want to help the team win, all of us, are all unselfish and I feel like that's going to help us a long way in the season."
"We have a lot of people out here who can play multiple positions," Lilly said. "We have a lot of people out here who are just eager and just ready to win and help the team in any way. Nobody complains, everybody just goes out there and does their job."
Transfers Jordan Kress and Manny Logan Green have been turning heads since arriving in January.
Competitive juices among the wide outs started flowing right away.
"We've been doing it since summer, you know, after we run through team and everything like that," Kress said. "Everyone's like, 'come on, let's get on on one's,' talking a little trash here and there. Once we come out here it's the same thing. It almost became a bigger animal though, because I mean we have more of a team atmosphere now."
