ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobos had a strong finish during their game against Air Force Saturday.
The men’s team won 84-78, improving to 12-0 at home. This is the team’s best home record since the 2005-2006 season.
JaQuan Lyle had a team high of 20 points, but fouled out with just under four minutes left in the game.
With the leading scorer out, the Lobos stepped up.
Zane Martin finished strong with 18 points and Corey Manigault had 16 points.
The Lobos had big stops in the final minutes.
“Well we learned as a team we just have to fight through the tough times, you know what I'm saying, if one guy goes down we all got to step up,” Martin said.
Lyle said he wants to see others players get more time on the court.
“I think it's a learning period, I mean I don't think I need to be playing 39, 38 minutes a game. Just off the simple fact, we have a lot of other great players around me, so I think tonight showed them that they can finish the game,” he said.
UNM will play Colorado State Wednesday night.
