Local artists transform UNM soccer storage unit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Lobo women’s soccer has a beautiful piece of art right next to their practice field. It’s all thanks to a father and son who love soccer and art more than anything.

Rocism is a local artist born and raised in Albuquerque. He graduated from West Mesa High.

"I’ve been a big soccer fan forever,” said Rocism.

Over the summer, Heather Dyche asked him to give their storage unit a new look.

“She kind of told me just to kind of do what I wanted, kind of just look at the space and when I talk to her she said: look at the space and do what you feel,” said Rocism.

"The only request that we had was that it said New Mexico soccer in someway and then we all wanted a Zia just because we all love the Zia,” said Dyche.

From a black canvas, to a masterpiece. Rocism and his son Dom spent a few days bringing this mural to life.

As lifelong soccer fans, this project holds a special place in the hearts of this father son duo.

"It means the world to me because he’s very talented, he’s very skilled, he can totally do everything if not better and I can do you know and so I’m really proud of him,” said Rocism.

"Oh it means everything, this is a mean we bond together in many ways we do a lot of things together but this is like this is like our main thing and we always bounce ideas off of each other we can always like you said we can always rely on each other when we’re painting a wall,” said Dominic Giannini.
