MW Commissioner on keeping up with the other Power Five conference networks

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The Mountain West Conference was ahead of its time when the MountainWest Sports Network was created. Since it shut down production in 2012, just about every Power Five conference now has its own network.

So how does the Mountain West keep pace?

ESPN would bring back Big Monday where the Mountain West football and basketball teams would play games beginning at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. That issue is on Commissioner Craig Thompson's plate.

"Pick a figure—million, two million, three million and then the delta between playing when they want us to play which is after 8 o'clock at night and not accepting that money and losing fan base and losing gate revenue, ya know those are decisions the AD's will have to make when they raise their hands whether they want to do this deal or that deal," Thompson said.
