ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Central Michigan will take on San Diego State in the New Mexico Bowl.

Jim McElwain, head coach of the Chippewas, is no stranger to the New Mexico Bowl.

When he was with CSU in 2013, the Rams beat Washington State.

Rocky Long also has a history in New Mexico. He led the Lobos to two bowl appearances.

This will be his first New Mexico Bowl as head coach of San Diego State.

“I really like the matchup, and I sense pretty decent excitement around the community about the match up,” said Jeff Siembieda, New Mexico Bowl executive director.

The game will be played at Dreamstyle Stadium on Dec. 21 at noon.
