ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- New Mexico United spent the last month delivering soccer supplies to smaller areas of the state.
Their final destination took them to the Zuni Pueblo.
"Tour started in truth or consequences and since then we've been in Roswell, Santa Fe, we went to Grants High School," said Chanel Weise, New Mexico United Community Relations Director.
The team gave out backpacks, soccer balls and water bottles.
"We're honored to have New Mexico United here," said Joseph Claunch, executive director of the Zuni Youth Enrichment Project. "Zuni is a place that's a tight-knit community, is used to coming together, so I see these kids here right now to see the families come through the distribution to see the smiles on their faces. It makes you feel good.
In addition to the kids getting a lot out of the donations, it brought a lot of joy to United's players.
"It's a beautiful feeling to come out here and fulfill the mission of the club," said David Estrada.
