ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Scott Padgett, UNM men's basketball assistant coach, appears to already be having an impact on the players.

The former National Champion and NBA player has apparently developed a special bond with Bayron Matos.

"The connection between him and Bayron is probably undeniable," said Head Coach Paul Weir. "Those two have hit it off. Whether it's talking basketball or joking after practice, just walking through stuff, on-the-court teaching, there's a connection there."

UNM began practice this week. The team hopes to begin the season toward the end of 2021.
