Special Olympics New Mexico cancels Summer Games

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Special Olympics New Mexico has decided to cancel the state Summer Games this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

All practices and qualifying competitions have also been canceled

"The thing is we know we have to uphold social distance, but we want to make sure our athletes aren't socially isolated," said executive director Randy Mascorella. "We are developing ways to stay in touch and give them things to do."

The organization will continue to hold online fundraising campaigns.
