The Isotopes: A family affair

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-John and Joe Traub walk the same, talk the same and they love baseball the same.

John has been the general manager of the Isotopes for about as long Joe has been alive.

"I remember the very first game he ever went to," John said. "My wife brought him and she was holding him in her arms and you can see the stadium lights twinkling in his eyes."

Since then, things have come full circle.

Joe jumped into the sports industry during college, and is now working media relations with the Isotopes.

"It’s pretty neat to see him trying to forge his own name and his own way in this industry," John said. "He’s always been around the game, and now it’s pretty cool that he’s able to work in the game."

For Joe, working for the Isotopes is a huge opportunity.

He said watching his dad navigate the organization through the pandemic taught him some valuable lessons.

"Thanks to my dad that we are here and playing this year because everyone has had a hand in it," he said. "It’s been a team effort but he’s been leading force in getting this operation back on track."
