Thursday night high school football recap: 10-17-19

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Six teams in the metro area faced off for Thursday night football.

Manzano versus Sandia

The Manzano Monarchs and Sandia Matadors played at Wilson Stadium. Sandia's Junior Silva was picked off by Jason Truong.

Truong had a 40-yard pick six.

The Matadors still came out on top, 16-13.

Cibola versus West Mesa

The Cibola Cougars and West Mesa Mustangs played at Community Stadium.

In the first quarter the Cougars were up 14-0.

Steven Barela's pass is nearly picked off, but Cibola's Mikey Garcia made the grab. The former Gameday Player of the Week went for 65 yards to score.

Cibola got their first district win, 48-6.

Rio Grande versus Albuquerque High

Rio Grande and Albuquerque High played at Milne Stadium.

This game was a battle of miscues.

Both teams fumbled in the redzone and both teams suffered sacks in the redzone. 

Albuquerque High gained the victory, 14-0.
