ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The announcement by the Mountain West Conference that fall sports would be postponed has left UNM trying o figure out what to do next.

The Lobo football team had been working out for weeks. The women's soccer team started workouts last week.

The volleyball was just getting fall practice started

Cross-country was still weeks away from opening camp, and still have student athletes making their way to Albuquerque

The coaches of the programs are now focused on moving forward.

"They maintained their focus, nobody was feeling sorry for themselves," said Lobo Football Coach Danny Gonzales. "The message given to them was very simple, 'we're going to continue to improve as a football team in the best way we can.'"

"It's definitely a bummer but I don't think any of them really felt surprised," said UNM women's soccer coach Heather Dyche.

"We could see the writing on the wall for this and how this started looking like it was getting closer and closer to this decision I think we remain incredibly optimistic they remained incredibly hopeful that if we follow the guidelines and followed all the protocols that we needed to, so we can get this thing off the ground," said Jon Newman-Gonchar, UNM volleyball coach.
