ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- After a successful spring season, West Mesa football is hitting the summer hard with seven on seven.

The Mustangs went 3-0 in the spring.

Quarterback Daniel Ayala is back, leading the way in summer workouts.

Seven on seven games gives West Mesa more opportunities to improve the passing game.

"It’s essential. The biggest thing for us is in the summer, and I’m sure for a lot of other programs feel the way is getting into the weight room," said coach Anthony Ansotigue. "Start being able to do this stuff in groups. We weren’t able to do any team stuff in the spring last year after we got started. Getting back to some normalcy this is what we want. This is right where we want to be."
