ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Imagine finding the perfect home online only to find out it's all part of an attempt to get personal information.

An old Craigslist scam is making a comeback. Realtors say it happens to renters and buyers. The person who pretends to own the home usually makes some excuse about being out of town or out of state, then solicits some personal information.

"It's pretty simple and it happens all the time. People are so desperate for housing. They have dogs. A couple hundred bucks for a key to take a look at the place in a heartbeat," realtor Ralph DiLibero said. "'Send your credit card information, your social security number. I'm going to run a background check on you.' You should never give anybody that information until you know who you're giving it to. That's best to do face to face."

Watch the video above to find out what happened when Joy Wang tried to find a home and almost fell for the scam.
