ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Last year the Atrisco Heritage boys’ basketball team made school history when they won not only their first state championship but also the first title ever.

"Based on my knowledge there's never been a title in basketball from this area of Albuquerque, so it was an honor to bring a championship to this area,” said Coach Adrian Ortega.

Keeping their title may prove to be a challenge. The Jaguars find themselves in a brand new school district and are dealing with the loss of 5 senior which includes current Lobo walk-on, Jordan Arroyo.

"We're just working hard as a team to take up the majority of what Jordan did for us,” said player Demarcus Sutphen. “The shot blocking, the defense, we're all coming together as a team and scoring altogether."

The Jaguars tip off the season Tuesday when they’ll play Valencia at home.
