BELEN, N.M. -- The Belen football team will play for the Class 5A state title on Saturday in Artesia. It's actually a rematch of the 2014 finale

Belen is unbeaten this year. They've never won a state football championship, but this one has been in the planning since the start of the calendar year.

"We've been talking since last January that we were going to meet Artesia in the Bulldog Bowl for the state championship," Eagles coach Greg Henington said. "By no means is it over. We know how good they are, but the plan is coming together. It's going to be difficult to finish, but our goal is never to go to the state championship. It's to win the state championship."

In Class 6A, it's an all-metro final for the first time ever with Manzano playing La Cueva.

Robertson will host Ruidoso in the 4A finale. This is the third straight year in the final for Robertson, and they won it all in 2013. Ruidoso won the title in 2014.

Eunice will host the Class 3A final in a rematch of last year's title game. Capitan is looking for a repeat.
