6A

Cleveland 70, Eldorado 68               The top ranked Eagles lose on a controversial ending as the Storm had a tip in at the buzzer.  Replay showed he didn’t get it off in time, however there’s no replay in high school basketball.  The Storm move on.

Atrisco Heritage 50, Las Cruces 46 The Jaguars hand the Bulldawgs just their second loss of the year.  Las Cruces missed some key free throws down the stretch and lost in double overtime.  Joziah Ramos led the way with 21 points.

5A

Espanola Valley 63, Artesia 59        The Sundevils needed overtime, but they’ll play for the state title Saturday at 2pm.  Isaiah Vigil had 15 points.  JP Sena added 13.

Belen 50, Los Lunas 41                     The Eagles put together a big second half run to take the lead and earn a trip to the state final.  Belen finished out the scoring on a 36-12 run.  Garrett Gallegos with a game-high 23 points.

3A

Texico 53, Santa Rosa 39                  Nathan Phipps had 21 points as the undefeated Wolverines are in the title game.

Pecos 69, Estancia 48                                    Carlos Cordova had 15 points and his teammate Mario Archuleta had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

2A

Ft.Sumner/House 60, Mesilla Valley 58       Ft.Sumner/House needed overtime to beat Mesilla Valley. Brant West was the leading scorer with 25 points.

Menaul 69, Magdalena 55                The Panthers pull off the upset beating #1 Magdalena behind 31 points and 19 reoubnds by Michael Ou.

A

Melrose 55, Quemado 39                  Melrose took an 9-point halftime lead and never let go.  Tristan Sena led the way with 18 points.

Maxwell 72, Springer 40                   Kolton Riggs put up a double double 32 points and 20 rebounds in the win.

 

 

Girls

6A

Cibola 51, Las Cruces 37                  Cibola is in the title game for the third time in four years.  Kayla Martinez had 14 points.  Amaya Brown had 11 points and an astounding 21 rebounds along with 8 assists.

Hobbs 43, Rio Rancho 33                 Amaya Lewis had 21 points to lead Hobbs into the championship game.  A 16-6 fourth quarter was the difference in this one.  Kamirah Decker had 13 points for the Rams.

5A

Los Lunas 57, Kirtland Central 34 The Tigers punch their ticket to the title game for the second straight season and 5th time in six years.  Marissa Weldon and Mica Jenrette each scored 10 points.  Los Lunas had 10 players who scored. 

Bloomfield 59, Gallup 56                  Halie Payne had 13 points for the Bobcats. The championship game is Friday at 7:30pm.

Portales 65, Shiprock 54                   Portales broke it open in the third quarter as part of a 23-4 run.  The Rams had four players in double figures led by Taylee Rippee

Moriarty 47, Pojoaque 38                 The Pintos shook off a slow start where they only scored one field goal in the first quarter.  Alyssa Adams put in a game-high 29 points.  Moriarty held the Elkettes to just 5 points in the third.  It’s Moriarty’s first trip to the title game since 2003.

Texico 63, Clayton 42                                   Baylee Sours had 27 points while Maryelle Dickerman added 17 and Texico is in the title game for the fourth time in five years.

Tohatchi 78, Tularosa 43                  Tohatchi jumped out to a 28-9 lead and never trailed.  Kalian Mitchell had a game-high 36 points.  Tohatchi moves onto the title game Friday at 1:30pm

2A

Ft.Sumner/House 40, Logan 38                   The combined squad from Ft.Sumner/House knocked off the top seed.  Jordyn Stowe had a game-high 17 points.  Logan was held to just four points in the final quarter.

Penasco 60, Lorsburg 45                  Penasco held their opponent to just 14 first half points.  Alaska Lopez led the way with 19 points for the winners.

A

Elida 39, Des Moines 30                    Lacy Ferguson and Kasyn Creighton each scored ten.  Elida is going for an eighth straight state title.

Melrose 46, Quemado 42                  Hailey Martin had 17 points as it will be #1 vs #2 for the title on Friday at 11:30am.
