ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The brackets are out for the state high school basketball championships, and the Bernalillo boys were No. 1 in Class 4A.

They face Hot Springs on Saturday. The Spartans are 26-1, won their first 16 games of the year, suffered their first loss and have since reeled off another 10 wins.

They say that loss may actually help them in the long run.

"I actually think the one loss helped us because we got to see, it exposed a lot of our weaknesses," head coach Terry Darnell said. "We got to work on those things, and I think we became a better team because of it.  The other thing is I think it gives them a sense of 'we're going to show everybody we were that good and we just stumbled that night.'"
