ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Jove Messenger is the New Mexico Gameday Player of the Week.

The senior is on the way to becoming a four-year letterman.

"It's been a crazy ride. It's flew by and it's great to just kind a hand down some mentorship with the younger guys just like as they did with me when I was a freshman,” Jove said.

After six games, Jove leads the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.

He’s also anchoring the defense at safety.

His coach couldn’t ask for more.

"(He’s) one of those kind of kids you wish you had 100 of them because he does things right. He's not one of those kids that is late. He's always on time he works hard,” Coach Judge Chavez said.

Jove keeps a busy schedule throughout the year.

He plays football, basketball and baseball.

He's also a member of student council.

Jove hopes to play college football or baseball next year in college.
